Established in 1965, Stockport Sword Club is a member focused organisation with a long-standing commitment to advancing the sport of fencing. Through expert coaching, competition, and community, we support fencers of all abilities in achieving their personal and sporting goals.

Prof. Andy Vincent
Maître d'Armes (Master of Arms)
Recognised across the fencing world as one of the most successful UK coaches of modern time. He has taken his athletes to multiple World Cup finals.
Andy has literally written the book on coaching and applies a unique program of developing mental agility alongside the physical.
Prof. Jackie Redkin
Maître d'Armes (Master of Arms)
Jackie is a natural coach who has an eye for picking out the next defining step a fencer needs and package that into a bespoke lesson.
Her favourite weapon is the foil which is the most tactical blade. Elegant and strategic, Jackie will teach you how to outmanoeuvre and outthink your opponents.
Prof. Stefan Leponis
Maître d'Armes (Master of Arms)
You guessed it, our third coach is also at the highest level possible. Stefan has an infectious love for the sport and in particular the Sabre being the fastest and most dynamic of the three weapons.
Even at the highest levels, it’s fun and enjoyment that creates lifelong fencers. Stefan’s innovative style is sure to have you smiling.

Experienced fencers are always welcome.
If you have your own kit, simply come along on a Wednesday evening, meet the club and join us for a session.
New to fencing? We’d love to get you started.
Beginners are very welcome, but your set of sessions needs to be arranged in advance. We allow extra time with one of our coaches to introduce you to the sport, get you properly equipped and make sure you get the most from your first experience of fencing.
